A mako pup doesn't start at the top of the food chain.
It starts by learning the hunt. Building its instincts. Finding the joy in the chase before it ever makes the kill.

That's what we do here. We protect the joy so the fundamentals have somewhere to land. We teach your child to love this game—and then we teach them to hunt.

Little Makos (Pups) — Learning to Hunt

A pup that loves the game
will learn to hunt.

The worst thing you can do to a young player is kill their love for the game before they ever learn it. Little Makos protects the joy first—then teaches real fundamentals the right way.

Makos

Where Joy Goes to Die

Sound familiar? Your kid shows up excited, stands in line for 20 minutes, gets yelled at for a bad throw, and rides home quiet. That spark you saw? It's fading.

  • Coaches who correct before they encourage
  • Overcrowded fields, zero individual attention
  • Winning prioritized over learning
  • No plan—just show up and figure it out
Makos

How Pups Learn to Hunt

We protect the fun so the fundamentals stick. When a kid is smiling, they're learning. When they're learning, they're growing into the player they're supposed to be.

  • Joy first—fundamentals follow naturally
  • 3 pro coaches on the field—every pup gets coached
  • Right mechanics taught the right way, at the right time
  • Your kid leaves wanting to come back—every single time

Coached by hunters.
Not volunteers winging it.

Every coach in the Makos program has real playing experience, real credentials, and a proven track record of developing young talent the right way.

Every hunt has a plan.
So does every session.

Pups don't learn to hunt overnight. We follow a 5-phase path that builds skills in order—so nothing is rushed, nothing is skipped, and the joy never leaves.

PHASE 01
Makos
Assess
Every pup is different. We watch, assess, and meet each kid exactly where they are.
PHASE 02
Makos
Develop
Build the right mechanics early—throwing form, bat path, glove work—the foundation of every great player.
PHASE 03
Makos
Scrimmage
Apply what they've learned in live reps. Read the play. Anticipate. React. This is where instincts sharpen.
PHASE 04
Makos
Game Time
Game-speed competition. Pups learn to trust their training under pressure and play with confidence.
PHASE 05
Makos
Review
Reflect, review progress, and set the next target. A pup that sees growth keeps coming back.

Two packs. Same hunger.

Every pup develops at their own pace. We run two age-specific packs so your child gets coaching scaled to their skill level—never too much, never too little.

Got questions?
We've got answers.

Everything you need to know before joining the hunt.

None at all. Little Makos is designed for beginners and early learners ages 5–9. Whether your kid has never picked up a ball or already plays rec league, we assess their starting point and coach from there. The Splash Pack (5–7) focuses on building excitement and confidence, while the Strike Pack (8–9) layers on sharper mechanics and competitive play.
Everything. Two sessions per week, a Makos training shirt, our full development curriculum, 3 pro coaches every session, and player progress updates. Monthly is $300/mo with no commitment. The Full Season is $1,400 one-time for all 5 months (saves $100). Founding Families (limited to 15 spots) lock in $250/mo permanently. Siblings get 10% off. No hidden fees, no surprise charges.
We cap each session at 20–30 pups with three pro coaches on the field at all times. That's roughly a 10:1 ratio—so every kid gets real coaching, real reps, and real attention. Once a pack is full, we close registration for that age group.
Missed sessions do not roll over, carry credit, or qualify for refunds—your pup's spot is held regardless. If weather cancels a session, we reschedule it. This is a development program with limited spots, and consistent attendance is how pups grow. We build the schedule around real family life, but we ask that families commit to showing up.
Rec league is games without development. Travel ball is competition before kids are ready. Little Makos is the piece most programs skip—structured skill development led by former pro players, a proven progression system, and an environment where kids build real confidence before the pressure shows up.
Absolutely. Parents are welcome to watch from the designated viewing area. We just ask that coaching stays with the coaches during session time—it helps your pup focus, take ownership, and build real confidence on their own.
